Today is
our final sea day before we begin the first of four days in Peru. We had no activities planned for today so we
slept in. We decide to go up and hang
out in the Crow’s Nest for a while to give our room attendants time to clean
our room. While we were up there we
could see dolphins jumping and swimming in the water in front of the ship.
The ocean
so far on this cruise has been very calm, but there is much more movement today
so hopefully we don’t get seasick.
During our trip to Machu Picchu we will be spending two nights in the
town of Cusco, which is over 11,000 feet in altitude so we have a little
concern about altitude sickness. Both
Val and I got prescriptions from our doctors for altitude sickness medication
so we began taking the pills today (you start two days before you go). I am somewhat reluctant to take them, but I
don’t want to take any chances on getting sick for our visit to Machu Picchu.
I spent the
rest of the morning reading and catching up on the blog. Val went to her team trivia and afterward it
was off to lunch. After lunch I published
the blog for Puerto Chiapas and the two sea days, which took a really long time
as the Internet is very slow again.
The rest of
the day was spent walking around the ship, reading and relaxing. Val did see a whale today, but it was pretty far away to get any good pictures. We spent the evening in our usual way (MIX,
dinner and casino), but went up to the room a little early as we have to be up
early tomorrow. We will be in Trujillo,
Peru tomorrow and have an excursion that starts at 8:30 so we have to get up
early.
