We're out... we've completed the White Rim Road today! It was a great three day trip with unbelievable scenery, but a very challenging drive. Much of the road was a fairly easy 4-wheel drive road, very rough, but not too difficult to drive. However, the rest of the road was another story. There were very steep climbs with equally steep descents, narrow shelf roads with deep canyons on one side and cliffs on another, deep sandy washes, and many other obstacles. Most of the White Rim Road is only wide enough for one vehicle so meeting another vehicle on the more difficult sections can cause serious problems. In the worst sections, we were both scared and exhilarated at the same time, but in the end, it was a lot of fun.
There are so many pictures and stories to tell about our adventure that I'm going to wait until I have more time. We'll be home in a couple of days, so tune in then. I will say one thing more - after three days without running water in a very dusty and dirty environment we were all very dirty and very much looking forward to a shower. Saying that the shower back at the hotel felt really, really good would be a great understatement. ;-)
