We left Tehachapi around 9 and after an uneventful drive we
were in Las Vegas by 1:30. Our room was ready when we arrived and is
on the 28th floor which is nice, but not much of a view and as I
said, we don’t really expect much of the Harrah’s rooms. After unpacking and cleaning up, we went down
and gambled a bit with mixed results, but had a good time. We found a new “Lord of the Rings” slot
machine and had a lot of fun playing that for quite a while and as it turned
out, it was the only thing we seemed to be able to win at. Since we hadn’t eaten lunch yet we went to
KGB Burger at Harrah’s, which is one of the myriad of new gourmet burger places
in Las Vegas. Val and I both had a hot
dog instead of a burger and it was really good.
It is not often we have hot dogs and when we do, it is usually the
non-fat type which aren’t very flavorful so this really hit the spot. We didn’t do much else during the evening
except for a late dinner (since we had a late lunch); our first day in Las
Vegas and our schedule is already becoming turned around – Las Vegas always
seems to do that.
