More of
the same today as it is another sea day.
We attended a port talk by Kainoa on Puerto Chiapas, which will be the
port after Huatulco. After the port talk
we stayed and listened to a lecture on the exploration of the pacific coast of
the Americas, which was quite interesting. I had no idea how many ships from
different countries were sailing up and down the coast in the 1500 and 1600’s.
We had a
noon appointment to talk with the future cruise planner so we went straight to
that after the lecture. We ended up not
booking a future cruise and we’ll have to think about what we want to do next.
We really enjoy the cruises that originate from the West Coast because it’s so
convenient, but Holland America seems to be cutting back on those so I’m not
sure what we’ll do.
We had
time for a quick lunch and then Val was off to team trivia and I was back
working on our photos. After Val
returned from team trivia (her team didn’t win today) we went to the casino to
try our luck in a slot tournament. When
we were on our South Pacific cruise, Val won $500 in the slot tournament so she
was anxious to try again. As usual, I
did terrible, but Val placed number five in a qualifying round, which may get
her to the finals.
We spent
the rest of day relaxing and reading until it was time to get ready for
dinner. As is our habit now, we went
down to the MIX Lounge and listened to Chris entertain us with “unplugged”
music until it was time for dinner.
After dinner it was the casino and then bed. Tomorrow we arrive in Huatulco at 8:00 AM so
we want to be rested.
This may
be the last blog post for a while or maybe until we get home. The Internet speed has really slowed as we
get further and further south. Also the
cruise gets a lot more port intensive so it may be difficult to have time to edit
photos and publish the blog. I will
continue to keep a log every day so I don’t forget what happens along the way
and can post the rest of our travels when I get home.
