Cruise Day 44
Tuesday, November 11, 2025
I know I said I was through talking about our health but today changed that. Yesterday my coughing got worse again and this morning when I got up, I didn’t feel very well. After eating breakfast, I laid down and started getting the chills, so we took my temperature and it was 100.3 F.
Val said we need to go to the medical center right away and get this taken care of so off we went. More so than any cruise we have been on, we have become very familiar with the medical center. The doctor verified that my temperature was high and then went through a series of tests; I had a chest x-ray, blood test and a urinalysis. The results surprised me and scared me a bit, I had pneumonia.
The x-ray showed some clouding in the left lung, and my white blood count was twenty which is high (or so I was told). The good news was my oxygen level was normal, and I didn’t have any shortness of breath. I was given more antibiotics and sent on my way after being told to come back tomorrow afternoon for another blood test.
I spent the rest of the day resting. Even though I didn’t have any appetite, I did need to eat so Val went to the Neptune Lounge and brought us back some snacks and for dinner we ordered room service. Val did go to trivia and spent some time in the casino, but I just continued resting. I feel sorry for Val as anything she wants to do, she has to do it alone, and of course she is worried about me.
This was a very disappointing day as I am finishing up my South Pacific Cruise just like I did in 2013, sick. Tomorrow we are visiting Nuku Hiva, our last port of the cruise.
