Tales of the South Pacific - Papeete, Tahiti Day 2

Cruise Day 41

Saturday, November 8, 2025

Val and I both slept quite well last night and were up before nine today.  The plan for the day was to walk into town and visit the big market that was there, but it looked a bit like rain, and it seemed like it was warmer than yesterday, so we decided to just spend the day relaxing.

We spent most of the morning relaxing on the balcony as we had a nice view of the boat harbor and Papeete from where we sat.  Val also learned that the ship that was anchored across from us named Hydra was a research ship.

Eventually I updated the blog and then we headed off to lunch.  After lunch we checked to see if the casino was open and sure enough it was, so we played for a while.  Val was having some luck, so she stayed longer than I did.  When I returned, I downloaded all of our pictures from the last few days so now I’m all caught up again.

It had been raining pretty hard outside, but the sun came out so we spent the rest of the afternoon until trivia time out on the balcony reading.  Arthur was still not at trivia, but Donna was there.  We didn’t have a very good day; we really do need Arthur’s help.

After trivia we went out on the balcony to watch our sail away from Papeete and then relaxed until dinner.  Since we’d already been to the casino today, we skipped it after dinner and returned to our room and read for a while until it was bedtime.  Tomorrow we’ll be in Avatoru, Rangiroa.

We sail away from Tahiti.
