Cruise Day 23
Wednesday, October 22, 2025
Today we are in Fiji docked in the capital city of Suva on the island of Viti Levu. Over 300 islands make up the country of Fiji with the two main islands being Viti Levu and Vanua Viti where most of the population is located. The largest is Viti Levu where we will be visiting for the next three days before moving on to Vanua Levu where we'll spend our last day in Fiji.

I got up at 7:30 just as we were docking. It was an overcast and rainy morning, but at least it didn’t seem too warm. Val woke up and as I suspected, she didn’t feel well enough to go on our planned excursion. I think she is doing the right thing as we have plans for the next three days and I think resting today will help her get well, so we’ll be able to do what we plan in the future.

| Since I had nothing better to do, I spent a lot of time on the balcony watching them load containers onto trucks that would drive down the pier to load them on a freighter. |
I went down to the World Stage to let them know we wouldn’t be going on our excursion today and then went to the Neptune Lounge for some breakfast. Val got up when I returned and decided to get something to eat at the Neptune Lounge. She sounded better and felt a little better but still had a sore throat. We relaxed for the rest of the morning and then Val said she was hungry (another good sign) so we went to the Lido for lunch.
After lunch Val took a nap, and I worked on the computer for a while. I had a nagging display problem that I was determined to fix, but after spending way too much time on that, I decided to just update the blog and give up on getting the laptop the way I wanted it. I’ll save that until I get home.
There were only three of us at trivia today as Donna was out on an excursion. We were back in the middle of the pack as usual, but we do enjoy the conversation that goes along with playing trivia. After trivia Val and I went down to the excursion desk to report on our Samoan tour. They had left a message on our phone asking us how it went, so we reported in person. We gave the tour and Asa a glowing review as it was very good.
We relaxed until dinner, but after we ate, we skipped the casino again as Val just isn’t feeling good enough. It turns out that maybe it was a good thing we didn’t go on the tour as it rained all day, sometimes very hard, and many people got wet while we stayed dry in our room. Truthfully though, we would have preferred to be out and about even if we did get wet.
Tonight, we sail to the other side of the island to Lautoka, our next port.
