Cruise Day 22
Tuesday, October 21, 2025
Today is a sea day and even though we got an extra hour of sleep last night, we slept in. When Val woke up, her sore throat was worse and her voice was very raspy, but she said she didn’t feel very sick. I went down to the Neptune Lounge to get her some hot tea to help soothe her throat.
We had planned on going to a port talk this morning but put aside that idea as it seems like the best thing for Val is rest. She decided to text her doctor with the symptoms to see if maybe she should take some antibiotics, but first she wanted to take a Covid test just in case. The test came up negative, so she went ahead and texted her doctor and he texted back that it sounded like a viral upper respiratory infection and the best thing to do was to rest, drink plenty of fluids and take Tylenol.
It got to be lunch time, and she still had an appetite and felt well enough to go to the Lido for lunch, but she did wear a mask so as not to pass her sickness on to someone else. After lunch she lay down again and had took a couple of Tylenol. I caught up on the blog and then downloaded our pictures from the last few days and organized them. I also had a couple of emails to catch up on and took care of that. I then relaxed for a while until it was time for trivia.
Val didn’t feel like going to trivia (that proves she really wasn’t feeling well) but insisted that I go. We actually tied for first but had a very low score, so I guess everyone had a bad day today. We once again lost on the tie breaker so again, no win for us. If Val were with us today, I really feel like we would have at least gotten one more point and come in first by ourselves, but we’ll never know.
After talking to Arthur and Donna for a bit, I returned to our room where I wrote out the blog for today up to right now and then I relaxed for a bit.
Val didn’t feel like going to dinner tonight, so we decided to get some snacks from the Neptune Lounge and stay in our room. There are movies on demand on our room TV, so we decided to watch “The Boys in the Boat”. We had never seen it, and it was a pretty good movie. After the movie we read for a while and then called it a night.
Tomorrow we’ll be in Suva, Fiji. We have an early excursion planned, but I am guessing that Val won’t feel like going but we’ll see.
