Cruise Day 19
Wednesday, August 9, 2023
Val and I both enjoyed the extra hour of sleep last night and woke up feeling refreshed. After our usual breakfast in the Neptune Lounge, we spent the morning relaxing in our room as we were not interested in the lecture scheduled for this morning. I did get the blog up to date, but otherwise, I accomplished little which was just fine with me as I enjoyed the down time.
We had our lunch a little earlier than usual because we wanted to go to a talk that started at 1:30 but found the Lido Buffet very crowded. We usually go to lunch after 1:00, and that is busy enough, but earlier it was even busier.
After lunch we headed off to the Rolling Stone Lounge to hear a port talk on our upcoming ports. We arrived 25 minutes early and every seat was filled, and people were standing in the back. It had already been presented once this morning and that had evidently been crowded also. I think I mentioned this before, but every cruise we’ve been on the port talks have been given in the theater, but for some reason on this cruise they have been put on a low priority. The talks were good enough, but really better suited for a bigger venue.
After the talk, Val wanted to go to the casino and try her luck again. I went with her, but played only one machine as I didn’t want to use up my daily allotment. After the casino, it was back to our room, and I downloaded the pictures we took yesterday and then we looked at them and some earlier ones we hadn’t looked at yet. I backed everything up and spent the rest of the afternoon reading.
Before we went to dinner, Val surprised me by giving me some of her winnings from the other day, so I’ll have a little more gambling money for the trip. That was very generous, thank you Val, it is much appreciated! That meant that after dinner when we went to the casino, I had more money to spend and made the most of it and won a small jackpot. It wasn’t in the same league as what Val had won, but more of a usual shipboard win so I was happy, Val’s winnings had brought me luck.
Tomorrow we’ll be in Ireland, but we have a late tour, and won’t have to get up real early, so we took our time getting back to the room. The weather had turned very foggy; I hope this doesn’t carry over to our day tomorrow.
