"One's destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” -- Henry Miller
Since the clocks were set back last night and we got an extra hour of sleep, we were up by 8:00 this morning although Val did it by accident because she forgot to change her cell phone clock and thought she was getting up at nine.
After breakfast in the Neptune Lounge, we returned to our room, but our room stewards were ready to clean our room so we headed down to the casino to check out a slot tournament promotion that was going on, but it turned out to be something we weren’t interested in so we decided to play one machine before going back. Val doubled her money, but I lost mine and we headed back to our room.
I am still behind on the blog, and I am determined to get caught up with that today and tomorrow so I started in on that. Val’s back is still bothering her if she has to walk for a long distance, so she reevaluated the rest of our tours on this trip. We had signed up for a particularly strenuous tour with the cruise critic group in Ghana so we decided to cancel that and book a ship excursion instead and she took care of that.
It was soon lunch time, so we headed off to the Lido. After lunch it was back to work on the blog for me, but Val had some time to relax. I got almost caught up on the blog and will be able to finish tomorrow.
Around mid-afternoon we grabbed my computer and headed off to the Neptune Lounge to do more safari photo viewing. Considering how many photos we took, it’s not surprising that we had only completed looking at our pictures from the first morning game drive. This afternoon we finished looking at the evening game drive photos. Val wanted to post some photos on Facebook, so we also went through our first safari day and marked some for processing.
We returned to our room and sat down to go through Val’s selected photos and I cropped and did some editing on them at her direction and then transferred them to her phone for Facebook posting. She had taken so many great photos it was hard to narrow it down, but we managed.
Tonight was another dressy night in the dining room so we started getting ready early and then made our way to dinner. As we walked through the ship to get to dinner we noticed a change, there were Christmas decorations everywhere. This will be about as close to Christmas as we are going to get this year as we don’t arrive home until December 20th and we won’t have time to decorate, shop for gifts or have our family Christmas.
We both had filet mignon tonight and to be honest, it wasn’t very good. There wasn’t anything really wrong with it, there was just a lack of seasoning, and it didn’t seem like a very good cut of meat. After dinner it was the casino as usual. I have been on a losing streak lately and it continued tonight, but Val had a little more luck than I did.
We have one more sea day tomorrow so there was no need to get to be early so we relaxed for a while before calling it a night.

We didn’t get up until 8:30 today, but it didn’t matter as it is another sea day, and we have nothing planned. The weather was overcast outside, but the seas were calm, and the temperature has started to warm up, but also the humidity is up.

After breakfast, I went right to work on catching up on the blog and I finally did it, what a relief. I am tired of writing although it has been fun to relive our safari and Cape Town visit. Val spent the morning out on the balcony reading as it had finally warmed up enough to make it enjoyable again. After finishing up the blog, I joined her until it was time for lunch.
After lunch we relaxed for a while and then looked at the rest of our safari pictures. We took a lot of pictures, but we have some really good ones, so we are pretty happy with them. I downloaded all my e-mail to my computer and then spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and reading.
It was dinner as usual in the dining room, but for the Val, it was a very good night in the casino as she walked out of the casino with a nice profit for the night. I didn’t come out ahead but got quite a bit of action and got to play for a while, so we didn’t get back to the room until around ten.
Tomorrow we are in Luanda in Angola and have a ship excursion that starts at nine so we don’t have to get up too early.
Today everyone got a strongly worded letter from the captain urging us to be extra careful
during our visit in Luanda. They are recommending
not bringing any valuables ashore including cameras and smart phones. It is a little unnerving to read all this,
but we will be on a ship excursion so that should be pretty safe, and we will
leave our cameras and phones on the ship and even take off our wedding rings
just to be on the safe side.
