Day 25 – Sea Day
As we head north towards home we lost an hour last night and the ship's
clocks were moved forward accordingly.
We will lose two more hours in the next five days. We slept late because of the time change and had
a light breakfast. Then we decided to go
up to the Crow’s Nest and read for a while until it was time for lunch. It’s a pretty good life here on
the ship.
After lunch Val had her team trivia and I tried once again to qualify for
the slot tournament finals held later today, but it was another exercise in
futility. Val, on the other hand, is in
the finals so after I was done I met her and we waited for the finals to
start. At 2:30 she and the other five
finalist sat down to compete for the $500 top prize, with second place worth
$150, and third place worth $100. I told
Val she was going to win, but she told me I was jinxing her, but guess what... I
knew what I was talking about. Val
walked away $500 richer. Congratulations
Val!
After the slot tournament it was time for the Filipino crew show. Although the Westerdam crew is largely
Indonesian, there is also a large number of Filipino crew members. It was a very good show and the audience
appreciated the effort and talent of the crew members. We didn’t do much of anything until it was
time for dinner and since I was feeling a little under the weather we skipped
the casino tonight and went back to the room.
